The disadvantages are that you must match the driver wattage to the LED wattage, and you run the risk of overdriving the LEDs beyond the safe working limits of the LED and burning out the LEDs.

Constant Voltage LED drivers are usually used with LEDs that are designed to be cut to length, such as LED tapes and LED flexible strip lights. The LED strips must be equipped with current limiting resistors to limit the current flow the LEDs. The advantage is the ability to drive different length products with the same driver.

The disadvantage is the current limiting resistors will consume some electricity and release heat.

Dimming LED drivers are available with the following 3 dimming types:  triac dimming, 0-10V dimming and DALI dimming
